Carolina Beard and Moustache CompetitionMar 8th, 2012 | By Rae Alton | Category: News
This weekend the Blind Tiger, as well as the larger Greensboro area, will be beset on all sides by the hairy, the moustached, and the bearded. Like a sea of sasquatches, the hairy ones will descend upon our humble town for one reason and one reason only, the first annual Carolina Beard and Moustache Competition!
The competition will begin at 8pm this Saturday, March 10, at the illustrious Blind Tiger. However, the festivities will take place over the course of the weekend. On Friday night the Welcoming Party will be held at Sticks and Stones. On Saturday before the contest, participants can partake in guided road and mountain bike rides as well as a downtown pub crawl. On Sunday the registers competitors will enjoy brunch at a local restaurant.
As for the competition itself there are several categories including Full Beard: Natural, Full Beard: Groomed, Full Beard: Freestyle, Partial Beard, Moustache: Natural, and Moustache: Styled. Anybody with facial hair can participate as long as they pay the $25 registration fee (the spectators pay $10). All proceeds go to the fantastic charity, The Autism Society.
All of this follicular fabulousness is brought to you by The Official Beard and Moustache Club of NC, or BMC of NC for short. The club is a charter group of both Beard Team USA as well as The American Mustache institute. BMC of NC held their first official meeting five years ago at McCouls and have been getting their whiskers knee deep in whisky ever since.
