My cup of froyo - Vanilla bean and Ferrero Rocher yogurt with toppings of strawberries and peanuts

With the unseasonably warm temperatures we’ve been seeing lately, frozen yogurt definitely isn’t out of the question — personally I think any weather is great for froyo.

Yoforia is a regional chain with locations in North Carolina and Georgia that has been open in Greensboro since this past July. They also have an international location in Cyprus, and three more opening in Kuwait and India. The focus of the yogurt bar is providing organic and delicious yogurt to its customers. The idea is to pick your cup and fill it with whatever your heart desires and then pay by the weight of the filled container. Viva a la carte! Yogurt bars such as this have become very trendy these days, because they offer much healthier options than your average ice cream parlor.

Yoforia offers various low and nonfat options. It’s definitely a good fit for a person who wants to live healthy yet still enjoy an occasional sweet treat. Each yogurt is created with the base of organic milk and Stonyfield yogurt.

The Westover Terrace location is currently offering 10 different flavors with many combinations, from seasonal favorites such as egg nog or pumpkin, to the traditional vanilla bean or dark chocolate. Choosing a flavor is the hardest part after being offered sampling cups to try each soft serve on hand. No matter what flavor(s) you choose, you will leave Yoforia a little happier than before you walked in. My choice was to try to the vanilla bean and Ferrero Rocher yogurts with a few strawberries and peanuts.

The toppings bar offers an impressive spread ranging from junk food to healthy options, so no matter what you’re seeking they have everything you need. If I was going to indulge, I would have definitely tried the cheesecake cubes and chocolate chips. I was told by the attendant behind the counter that all the fruit is cut fresh as needed. It’s always reassuring to know your fruit hasn’t been sitting out all day as a landing pad for flies and whatever else is going around.

At the end of the assembly line you also have the option to add classic toppings such as chocolate syrup or caramel and new favorites like agave nectar. Whatever your taste, Yoforia has you covered.

The interior of the facility reminds me much of a Kubrick-esque Moloko Lounge, sans nude statuettes. More than likely, the furnishing were hand picked from an Ikea showroom.

With many of us out holiday shopping tomorrow, a sweet ice-cold treat might be a great break from your hectic Black Friday gridlock.
